adjusting cam gears with SC

I just called dynamic autosports to see how much they charge for dyno and they told me that its useless to adjust the cam gears since its been proven that you CANT get any more power from a SCed car..is it true? please post if you actually know this..thank you.

You might wanna install the kit first before you start tuning...just a thought. Besides, how do you know that you won't have a problem to deal with right off the bat? I know playing with cam gears would be the last thing on my mind after I installed an SC. I'd be driving it around a bit looking/listening for bugs. Baby steps at first.

Hey man, I wasn't trying to be cocky or anything. I'm just talking from experience. If you don't want my help that's fine...go do a search about what you're wondering about. There's been threads about cam gears before if I recall.

hahah..nah man..I aint brushing you off..sorry it sounded like that..I just wanted to know if they help..have you noticed a diff in hp after adjusting them...let me know if you have..thanks-tony

Unfortunately, I don't have one on my car to play with. I used to have a '90 Talon AWD with adjustable cam gears. Power gains were pretty noticeable at high RPM's. But that was on a talon so I don't know how it would affect performance on an integra. Try a search here for "cam gear". If I recall, a few months ago some guys got some cam gears for their cars and were playing with different settings on a dyno. Lundgren has some info on his website.

Cam gears give tons of power with an JRSC Integra. Make sure you know how to tune though!

Can't get more power from an SCed car? I don't know about that statement. Going from the stock intake to an open element filter on my JRSC definatly added a *big* gob of power to the car. I've heard of JRSC 'tegs getting good power from cam gears too.

Gears can add a lot more power to a SC or turbo car. Don't take your car to those guy's, they don't know what they are talking about. Tune the car with the gears and gain 10 hp, I did.

I'm curious as to why it's so imperative to only have people who know how to tune them do it. Obviously, I'm taking it to King who've got a ton of experience tuning but when I think about it, don't you just set it to a variety of settings and then dyno it? Then keep changing the settings until you find a maximum gain?

What's there to know? What constitutes tuning expertise?
